Dog Foster ImageCompanion Paws Dog Foster

Fostering a Companion Paws dog is extremely rewarding. You will have the opportunity to directly impact the life an individual or an entire family while also giving a dog a second chance. You will get to see the remarkable changes and tremendous growth a Companion Paws therapy dog can provide. Best of all, you have the opportunity to save a life and change a life!

Dogs that go into foster care are already assigned to an applicant for adoption.  The short term foster program is used both to provide a safe and loving home for the pet but also to give time for the dog to be assessed. The foster parents also get to know the dog and help the dog through the settling down period. This knowledge becomes vital as the dog’s suitability is considered and a successful adoption is arranged. The foster parents play an extremely important role in the Companion Paws program.

If you would like to open up you home and your heart to one of these very special dogs please complete the Dog Foster Form below. We also encourage you to contact us with any questions you have.

What do I have to provide for my foster dog?
TLC’s Companion Paws covers expenses. We ask that foster homes provide love, a safe environment, rules and boundaries, and some basic training (and housetraining if needed). We also ask that you transport the dog to their vet appointments, if required. Full training and support is provided. Upon submitting the dog foster form, you will be contacted by our Foster Manager to schedule an interview and answer any of your questions.

How long do dogs stay in foster care?
The average stay is between 2 and 8 weeks. Most times, dogs are placed sooner than 8 weeks.
